Who we are
Public Concern at Work is an independent,self-funding whistleblowing charity. It runs a free confidential advice line for people with whistleblowing concerns;promotes the public interest through its policy work; and advises public bodies, business, regulators and unions on how to create more open and accountable workplaces.
This is a unique opportunity to work for the UK’s whistleblowing charity and gain hands on experience in a busy legal advice centre.
Volunteering Opportunities
We would like to recruit two volunteers to come in one day a week to assist in the following areas:
- Revising and updating our website
- Re-drafting selected case studies
- Assisting in drafting and distributing our weekly newsletters
- Updating and reviewing our media and contacts database
- Assisting in the co-ordination of upcoming events
- Assisting in our marketing campaigns
- Ad-hoc administrative tasks
The minimum commitment is at least one day a week (9.30 - 5.30) for a 6 month period. See below for how to apply.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must be:
- a graduate in any relevant discipline;
- committed to providing highly professional legal services to people who cannot afford to pay for them or who are otherwise vulnerable;
- able to commit to the role for the relevant period; and
- able to commit the relevant time on a weekly basis.

Volunteer Opportunities
We are seeking volunteers to undertake legal research in the area of whistleblowing, answer phones, read Employment Tribunal judgments and assist with general admin duties. The volunteers would also have the opportunity to observe some advice calls to clients.

- a law graduate or have completed a law conversion course;
- committed to the pro bono ethic of providing highly professional legal services to people who cannot afford to pay for them or who are otherwise vulnerable;
- able to commit to the role for the relevant period; and
- able to commit the relevant time on a weekly basis
